The DefenceXpress International Tactical Standards Council is an independent advisory body bringing together respected professionals from security, policing, fire and rescue, military service, close protection, emergency response, martial arts and specialist training. Its purpose is to help ensure that DefenceXpress standards and professional pathways remain ethical, lawful, practical and effective in the real world.

Why This Council Exists

Our promise is only meaningful if it is supported by professional standards. The Council brings experienced human judgement to the development, review and continual improvement of DefenceXpress training, officer-safety principles and professional pathways.

Responsibility

Advise, review and challenge DefenceXpress standards without replacing regulators, statutory authorities or qualified legal review.

Council Responsibilities

✓Define and periodically review tactical and officer-safety training standards.

✓Advise on de-escalation, conflict management and professional communication.

✓Review practical modules, instructor expectations and progression principles.

✓Promote lawful, proportionate, ethical and operationally sound practice.

✓Support continual professional development and evidence-led improvement.

✓Provide strategic guidance while respecting regulators and local legal authority.

The DX1–DX9 Progression Framework

DefenceXpress uses nine sequential professional ranks to support structured development across knowledge, practical competence, verified experience, responsibility and leadership. The framework does not replace statutory licences or regulatory requirements; it provides a clear DefenceXpress Institute pathway for continuing professional growth.

DX1 — Security Officer

Verified entry level after the applicable licence or entry credential has been confirmed.

DX2 — Senior Security Officer

First sequential Institute progression beyond DX1.

DX3 — Advanced Security Officer

Advanced professional development and verified progression.

DX4 — Specialist Security Officer

Specialist professional capability pathway.

DX5 — Senior Specialist Security Officer

Senior specialist recognition and responsibility.

DX6 — Principal Security Officer

Principal-level professional progression.

DX7 — Senior Principal Security Officer

A continual-improvement loop

The DefenceXpress Institute develops and delivers professional pathways; operational evidence and lessons can identify where standards need attention; and the International Tactical Standards Council brings experienced human review and challenge to continual improvement. The Council remains advisory and does not replace regulators, awarding organisations or statutory authorities.

Technology may assist administration, analysis and delivery, but it does not replace professional judgement, legal authority or human responsibility. The Council provides experienced human guidance and helps protect the standards behind the DefenceXpress Institute and professional-development framework.
